Meet The Artist

My name is Dylan, I’m an independent artist working out of my studio in Northern Maine. A grant recipient from the Maine Arts Commission, in 2022 I shifted from self directed studies to a classroom setting, seeking a BFA with a concentration in ceramics. I attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and am in my final year and have been teaching ceramic classes through an internship program. I’m currently creating work for my thesis exhibition and have applied to a low residency master’s program at MECA to further my education as a ceramics instructor.

Family History

Ceramics have been an integral part of my family’s heritage, stemming from the creative vision of my great grandmother, Joan Dufour. In the 1970s, Joan established her studio, Family Affair Ceramics, nestled in the town of Van Buren, Maine. Within the walls of her home studio, Joan poured her heart into crafting exquisite, hand-painted wares, each piece reflecting a deep-rooted passion for art.

Joan’s commitment to craftsmanship and her relentless pursuit of perfection soon earned her a reputation that transcended generations. Her name became synonymous with quality and attention to detail, garnering widespread acclaim that continues to this day.

As I carry forward her legacy, each piece I create is infused with the same timeless charm and dedication to quality that defined Joan’s craft.
